Thanks to the publisher for an advance reader's copy.
I enjoyed this quite a bit more than The Husband's Secret, although the anticipation of finding out the incident at the barbecue went on too long (how many ways can people talk around a potentially life-changing event after the fact? This book did a great job of keeping me on the edge of my seat and wanting to push forward to see what happened on the fateful "day of the barbecue" alluded to from the beginning. I loved the interwoven plotlines and the very real characters.

I really love Liane Moriarty and this book is right up there with Big Little Lies and What Alice Forgot for me. Moriarty just does her characters and plots so well. I listened to the audio version of this book, read by Caroline Lee, and she is definitely a five star narrator -- probably tied with Bahni Turpin for my personal favorite. Highly recommend the audiobook if you like audiobooks.

This was my least favorite moriarty book. It was a typical beach read. But coming back to review it a month later I had to read the description to remember what it was about. The characters all were ok but not great. None of them grabbed me, except the ones that were barely in the book. This was the perfect book to read while I had the flu because I could sail through it with little attachment and nap when I wanted to. I had really looked forward to this book, and was ultimately disappointed.

If you're willing to wait for the story to begin almost halfway in, it's a worth a read!

loved the characters but craved more from the plot. Liane's writing is amazing as always! Keep me intrigued and wanting to read more!
