I'm actually very conflicted about this book.
On the one hand, I definitely see the value in encouraging open dialogue about domestic abuse, and trying to show an inside look at just how damaging and difficult it can be.
On the other hand, I really disliked just about everything about the plot, the characters (even the ones that are supposed to be likable), and the end result.

I know this book is polarizing (I recently heard the term marmite book, it's a UK thing - you either love it or you hate it, and I am adopting this) and I understand why. The only other book I've read by this author is Verity, which was batshit crazy, and this is very different, and after reading the author's note it's clear why. I was fully invested in Lily's story and how it was going to turn out. Yes the characters are all too good to be true, but I don't agree with some of the objections to
