Beautiful, thoughtful look at the the lives of the people who continue to raise flocks in the mountains of Britain’s Lake District. Told eloquently by one of these shepherds, it shows the wisdom, simplicity, and commitment of the men and women who continue to exercise stewardship over these lands.

I never knew I wanted to learn about shepherding and sheep, but apparently I did, because I absolutely could not put this book down. I guess it doesn't hurt that this is one of the most beautifully written books I've read in years. I think people who are fans of Annie Dillard and Barbara Kingsolver will like this book a lot. ...more
