Reports of increasing occurrence have been received across Costa Rica of chicken-size lizard attacks infants and children and the elderly in their beds. When John Hammond, wealthy creator and owner of Jurassic Park and InGen (a genetic engineering startup), hears about these attacks he is sure that the animal did not escape from Isla Nublar, an island leased from Costa Rica and the home of a zoological park housing DNA-created prehistoric creatures not seen for millions of years. I can’t believe it took me so long to read this book but I finally got around to it. And I will be honest, my rating is partially due to nostalgia for the movie (which I love) and partially because DINOSAURS (which I also love), but overall this version didn’t leave me with the sense of giddy wonder that the movie did. I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and the suspense. Even though I already saw the movie, there were enough differences with the book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I was impressed with the science in the book. Although some of it was dated (the book was released in 1990) it was very detailed and realistic.
