The scientific explanation for vampires is interesting, but Robert Neville proved too problematic a main character for me to remotely enjoy in 2018. Probably some of this is intentional, but a lot of it is dated 1950s attitudes, so there's too much tough-guy hard drinking, while every encounter with a woman, vampire or otherwise, gets uncomfortably rapey. Except for Robert's visit to the library -- there he just imagines the spinster librarian who "probably" worked there, and pities her hypothet ...more
