This isn't an easy book to review. For me it was an uncomfortable nostalgic trip. I was a sophomore at a Colorado high school roughly an hour away when the Columbine attack happened. I have vivid memories of being at a track meet that afternoon, while various coaches/parents monitored the situation throughout the afternoon by radio, and the announcer gave periodic updates over the loudspeaker. This book was so well written. I learned quite a bit about the shootings at Columbine High School and appreciated the balanced journalism of Dave Cullen. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has even the slightest knowledge of Columbine as it clears myths and rumors imperative to understanding the massacre, the shooters, and the stereotype of high school.

I am also strongly considering this piece as an AP read for next year.

A tough book to read, but a very important one, especially since nothing has changed. Gun control continues to be a hot topic and yet nothing is being done to fix or change the policies. Reading this, just made me cringe every time Dylan and Eric would make another bomb or buy another gun. And the fact that the authorities could have and frankly, should have stopped them long before anything violent happened.
