This is the poignant and heartwarming story of Francie Nolan, who is growing up in a poor but resilient family living in the Brooklyn tenements at the turn of the 20th century. In addition to the exuberant Francie, the book is full of colorful characters who, in the course of their daily lives, experience the range of human emotion that makes the best of fiction feel very relatable, true, and timeless.
