20 years after my Mom first nagged me to read this book I finished it! How's that for a record :)
In all seriousness, after reading (and enjoying) this book I fully understand why my 9 year old self was so resistant to it (and why my 11 year old self stopped reading after page 32--I found the original bookmark I left in it!).
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is a genuine Classic. And I easily understand why it's remained so beloved more than 55 years after it was first published. But as much as it's a 'co ...more
