Unfortunately I was not a fan of Nimona. I'm surprised it has such a high rating considering it comes across as quite amateurish. The artwork was okay but not to the level I've come to expect from graphic novels. The characters were poorly developed and nothing new. Nimona herself was extremely annoying and immature and I was done with her within a few chapters. The plot needed quite a bit of work and left me quite dissatisfied. Overall, the book felt like a really early draft that needed major

I honestly knew next-to-nothing about this book going into it. All I knew was that it had a super cute cover, and that I'd seen it floating around the reading community lately. But I was at the library and there it was, on the shelf, so I thought, why not? What I found was a cute, fun, and humorous read.

In a search to find a book that would meet Item #4 on the 2018 Read Harder Challenge List (A comic written and illustrated by the same person), I stumbled across Nimona and I'm so very happy I did.
When I saw the dedication page (To all the monster girls), I knew that I was probably going to like this novel. And, man, I was right!

I really enjoyed this graphic novel and I think my students will as well. Even at the end of this novel, we aren't quite sure what/who Nimona is. Telling the story from the perspective of the "villian" was quite good. Very fun.
