Super interesting and honestly pretty heart-wrenching story about what it might be like if we discovered a way to surgically "correct" a low IQ or mental handicaps. Part cautionary tale, part Benjamin-Button-esque story, Flowers for Algernon has deservedly been assigned reading for many years now.
