It's been about three weeks since I started this book. At first it was as audiobook and then I switched to a paperback. I just can't finish it and I don't understand why. The story is good and I do like it, but it's just not going well for me. My plan is to come back to this book again, at a different time, when I am not in a reading slump.

Weird but epic! Medical research goes wrong when the military steps in to "support" resulting in a The Stand culling of humanity. Long winded and lots to keep track of but I like that in a book especially on a quiet, rainy holiday week. Definitely gripped by the trilogy.

I tried reading this book 2 or 3 times before and would get to one certain poi t and stop. But this time I just kept on going and then couldn't stop. At first it seemed like a copycat of The Stand and there are definitely some similarities. But I ended up thinking it was a really compelling read, good character development with just the right amount of mysticism to bring me in.

For some reason this one trudged along for me for a while. Without spoilers I'll just say there was a sudden change of course midway through and the whiplash was tough for me to adjust to. In the end it was entirely worth it and I intend to continue the series. Call me a sucker for a cliffhanger.
