What Members Thought
This one felt different to other Dickens books that I've read. I think it was the first-person style, which meant that there was less of a confusion of characters than in some of the others I've read (now I'm finally reading Dickens at all!). I liked the first and last parts a lot, although the one in the middle, when he was in London trying to become a gentleman, dragged a bit for me - hence four stars, not five.

I can hardly describe how much I loved this book. I know it is probably Dickens' finest novel, but I just couldn't put it down. It was such a great story, so well written and so enjoyable I was sad when it ended. I was a little disappointed with the final chapter, but I know it was added as a second thought and I would have perhaps preferred his original ending, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of this novel at all.
