I had to read this book for high school lit class, and I did not like it. I didn't like any of the characters, so I was left with no one to root for. I feel sorry for Pip, sometimes, but he allows the other characters to shape and affect him in bad ways, and becomes as unlikable as them. I saw a movie version of the story too, and didn't like that any better. I think I just didn't get what Dickens was trying to say with this. Maybe you will.

Prior to this, the only Dickens I'd read was A Christmas Carol (short) and Barnaby Rudge (unknown), neither of which I remember well at all. So with Great Expectations, I feel I've finally properly read Dickens.

Finished listening with Autumn. Led to some good discussion, but my opinion is still the same. Meaning I love Dickens, but don't like this particular book.
