4.5 Really touching stories. It reminded me of a mix between The Great Alone and Beartown, but also it’s very own unique story. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the different narrators.

I really enjoyed the historical element to this book. I had not previously considered how statehood affected the people of Alaska and their way of life.

I love any book that has multiple character perspectives that all meld together, so this was right up my alley. However, I felt the resolution was predictable. I wanted more Ruth and less everyone else, too.

I love how versatile this book is. I can easily see many students enjoying it!
