Popsugar Reading Challenge Item: A Book Involving a Heist
There is a lot of world-building in this book. It took me a while to get my head wrapped around the various cultures and magic systems involved, but I'm not sure if that's a shortcoming of the book or if it's just the hit my reading comprehension has taken since my son was born last year!

It took me over a year to finish this. I probably wouldn't have finished it if my husband didn't push how great it was. Mehhh. Husband is wrong.
There are things I did like. Iseult was probably my favorite. Id like more of her, but I don't want to have to endure more Merick. Or even Safi to be honest. Just give me Iseult.

Fantasy is not my genre. It's really, really not. So while I enjoyed some aspects of this book it just wasn't my favorite. I loved some of the characters (Iseult & Aeduan) and love some of the plot points but it wasn't an easy ready for me. Not bad just not my book. Still, I'm invested in the characters enough I'll probably read the rest of the series at some point. Just not anytime soon.

Loved the magic system, enjoyed the sisterhood between Safi and Iseult. I'm excited to continue reading this series.

One day I will learn if it has "YA" on the spine from the library, be prepared for teenage angst, tortured childhood, nubile heroines. I just couldn't get into the book as they were fleeing, yet again, another group of people hunting them. A possible revisit at a later date.

I enjoyed this fast paced fantasy and it’s characters. The magic system is interesting too. My main complaint is the immaturity of Safi.
