I love this series! The main characters-a DI in Brighton and a magician of no fixed address who became friends during the war-now find themselves solving crimes with magical or mysterious aspects which blur the lines between their respective professions. This is the third in the Brighton Mysteries, set in 1953. Max Mephisto is appearing at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. London is preparing for the Coronation of the new Queen. Back in Brighton, D.I. England is getting prepared for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and the event is the first to be televised around the world. Max Mephisto is preparing for his television debut on the evening of the coronation when he and Edgar Stephens uncover an anarchist plot to disrupt the new Queen's coronation. This was a very good book. I love Ms. Griffiths' plot building and her character descriptions are without flaw. An excellent read.
