I really had a hard time putting this down even though in my opinion I would not consider it a thriller. It's been quite some time since reading the second book (although for the life of me I can't recall why I would have read the second before the first in a series!) and I believe I enjoyed this one much more than White Nights. First book in the Ann Cleeves Shetland Island series. Winner of the Crime Writers' Association (CWA) of the UK 'Duncan Lawrie Dagger' award for the 2006 best crime novel of the year. Love the setting of the Shetland Islands and the local culture/weather/geography that infuses the story. Makes me want to go visit on a future vacation.
