This is the fourth in the Merrily Watkins series and sees her meeting up again with Lol Robinson. Meanwhile, as previously, there is a side story concerning Merrily's teenage daughter, Jane and her boyfriend, Eirion. Lol is trying to make music again in hop country, Jane is thinking of losing her virginity.

Failed exorcisms, a nubile young girl dabbling on dark arts, Romany ghosts and seductions in the hop-yard, and murders. Dark and atmospheric and gripping as usual. Took me a while to get through the first few chapters and then as usual, something just clicks and I just had to finish it.
