This was really good!
Firstly, I'm glad that Martin Edwards has stopped putting spoilers in his introductions. (I had lost faith in him, so I read the introduction after completing the book!) His introduction gives a lot of information about Bell's (real name Doris Bell Collier Ball) life. She sounds like a remarkable woman.

Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss.

Wonderful book with a realistic look at the London lower classes living by the Thames in the 1930's. The characters are three-dimensional, the atmosphere and setting are palpable, and the plot is intricate with multiple threads woven together as the book proceeds. I hope to find more from this author.
