I enjoy this series for the humor, characters and well-researched look at life in Ancient Rome under Emperor Vespasian. This outing was no exception, providing a crash course on law enforcement throughout the book, and ending with a wedding - interesting and raucous traditions there!

However, Balbinus's departure does not lead to the reduction in criminal activity that Petronius hopes for. Before long, a gang of robbers have broke into the Empor

My review seems to have astray. I keep thinking I will not read any more of these, but find when they come around in the group, I read on . Still I’m pleased I did this one as I liked it so much more than others. I was disappointed that Falco could find it important to look after a baby found in a skip, but didn’t show much enthusiasm about finding the whereabouts of one of his family. However the plot of this was definitely better than others and the “ will they, won’t they “ about him getting ...more
