I love these books! The amount of descriptive detail is absolutely fascinating. The plot is weaved skillfully around interesting settings both in the United States and Europe. A very intelligent read. I've learned so much about the art world from Pears books.

This was a fairly light mystery set in the art world, obviously. Question is, why do they want Jonathan Argyll to deliver the Titian he has just sold to the museum in person?
Actually this book is one tax dodge after another. And I suppose I liked that part of it. They didn't mind how much they spent as long as they made sure that Uncle Sam couldn't get any of it. I suppose that is one way to go if you are rich enough. ...more
