What Members Thought
A good third in the well-known series, with the rather deliberately humdrum nature of the police procedures of the first in the series, and the longeurs of a pre-IT age, replaced by more action, some of it distasteful, from first to last.
This does mean that the much vaunted procedural matter is really no more or better than many books that had gone before. And the motivation of the criminals, and the view of society, are again nothing outstanding.
