Another wonderful story. Murder, Shakespeare manuscript, a school prize giving and Professor Fen thrown into the mix. My favourite character was Merrythought the elderly determined dog. The story is set after the Second World War at a school near Stratford on Avon.
I guessed the wrong murderer. There are clues which one of which I thought was a red herring. I feel my detecting abilities are on a par with Inspector Clouseau.

Professor Fen seems to have had a personality change in this book. He is not anywhere near as bad mannered as the previous books. In fact he is vey patient with some of the characters. He still likes to keep his ideas and suspicions to himself, and still continues to keep reminding the reader, he knows
it all.

Very enjoyable entry in the Gervase Fen series. I like books in school settings, and this one doesn't disappoint! Fen (and Crispin) are in fine form, the humor is present and the solution, while clear once Fen expostulates, was a surprise to me.
