I really like these stories, the Venetian setting is lovely, and the character of Commissario Guido Brunetti is beautifully described. Unlike most detectives in fiction he seems to have a fairly normal home life. Similar to most of the others however is that he has to cope with incompetent and often corrupt management. While the subject matter is depressingly realistic, the book is a pleasure to read. Brunetti, his family and staff are wonderful people to spend time with. I am happy there are so many more in the series.
