The first in the Ancient Rome whodunnit series with Marcus Didius Falco, ex-soldier and professional informer/investigator, drawn into working for the emperor Vespasian, and his son Titus, in AD 70, to solve the organised fraudulent theft of bars of silver (pigs) coming from the British mines to Rome, and to solve the related murder of a 16-yr old girl.

I did like Falco and the humour was ok, but was hoping to like it more than I did. This being the first in the series,has left me willing to try the next one.

Might be even better on the second read as I know the characters, and their future, now.
