What Members Thought

I have not read any of the other books in the series, but it was the only book set at Christmas that my library had that seemed interesting. Luckily, it wasn't too bad of a book to start out with, even though they do keep mentioning stuff that happened in the earlier books.
It did provide the Christmas atmosphere that I was looking for. I loved the subplot that had Flavia trying to trap Father Christmas. The setting was definitely my favorite thing about this book.

Somehow missed this when I was reading the series. Always a joy to spend time with Flavia. Very much looking forward to the next book in the series after such a long gap.

Another great adventure for our eleven year old Flavia. Set at Christmas time, Flavia is determined to find out if there really is a Father Christmas, as she has been told by her older sisters that it is all a myth. To this she quest, she applies her skill of chemistry, which doesn't actually prove it, but does in fact save her life. I really enjoy this series. It's helpful to read them in order as there may be references to previous books. Great characters.

An extra star for that heartbreaking scene when Captain de Luce rediscovered his and Harriet’s Romeo and Juliet book. Sigh....
