The Amelia Peabody series was recommended to me by a friend in 2003-4. I promptly forgot the name of the author and the series until I saw another friend talking about her mixed feelings as she sat down to read the final book.

I don't know what to say beyond that I really enjoyed it. The 'mystery' was a bit weak, but the character voices so strong that I couldn't help but get swept up in the story. I have requested the next five books in the series from the Christchurch library store. ...more
