I didn't think i would read another Thynne murder mystery after
because that title was...well...thin! But I had enjoyed the first Thynne I read,
& it was a group read at Reading the Detectives. I'm very glad I decided to give Thynne another try. For a debut crime novel (and only Lady Molly's second book) this was a good effort.

A very second-rate Golden Age murder mystery. Thynne's plot was very far-fetched and well, dare I say it, thin! It was pretty obvious about half-way through the book who the murderer was as there was a dearth of suspects. Based on this outing it is doubtful whether I would bother with any more of these reissues of Molly Thynne's novels.

3.5 stars rounded up because the opening chapter really set the scene. Although I did guess the culprit very early on so it wasn't so exciting for me, also I didn't warm to the sleuth, I still found it an enjoyable mystery.
