This novella follows on from the previous Slough House novella, “The List,” and features John Bachelor and the continuing story of agent, Hannah Weiss (code named ‘Snow White’).

After events in the previous instalment, this story sees Bachelor even more side-lined than before – having lost his task of handling Hannah, and still shuttling around on his ‘milk round,’ checking on the elderly ex-spooks who are slowly dying. An old time spy sees a classic drop happen in an upmarket London coffee shop and alerts his handler who initially doesn't take him seriously. However, a search triggers alarms in the Park and links to an agent recruited in The List who the Park is promoting into a role at the Brexit department as negotiations with Europe starts.
