So, I finally found out how Nero Wolfe gained possession of the coveted black orchids. This had been alluded to in several of the Wolfe mysteries that I have read but I hadn't gotten my hands on a copy of Black Orchids (1941) until this past year.

These two stories were a hoot despite the murders and made the 7-hour drive enjoyable. I really like the way Rex Stout has Archie describe things. For example, when Nero Wolfe finished eating dinner and was sitting in his chair in the office the description is 'he sat with his hands clasped over his sausage mausoleum.' There were many other witticisms and descriptions that made me chuckle.
