What Members Thought

You know, this may be a modern American writing about about times gone by in the SW of England but nonetheless it is still a good book. The writing is excellent and it is a great detective story. I will certainly read more in this series.
It is not an Agatha Christie, but believe me, it is not far short.

The mystery was pretty good but I was not so thrilled with the protagonist and her mixed up relationship with her husband. I also think that the author's portrayal of 1932 England did not come across as very believable -- perhaps I have read too many mysteries that were actually written in the 1930s to enjoy the faux experience!

I quite liked this book, though I wish the main characters had a bit more complexity. I was really interested in the marriage subplot, but I thought the players' motivations could have been explained more thoroughly. Excited for the series though!
