I would like to read this part romance, part cozy mystery, part period piece, which was recommended by Old Latin Teacher on Amazon. And yet -- maybe I'm just too cheap -- but I am not inclined to fork over $9.99 for an unknown author's debut novel.

I found this novel to be a lot of fun. I liked pretty much everything about it, the setting, the characters, the cover, and the plot. The mystery is a good one, but for me, the characters really made the book. The story is set at a seaside hotel in the 1930s. The author presents her main character, Amory as a smart, likeable young woman. I even have to confess to a sneaking likeness for Milo, her husband, despite his apparent shortcomings. I am reading through this series while I wait for other books to become available at the library. They are just OK: the setting is pretty good, but I don't find the two lead characters to be very believable. Some of the dialogue sounds like it comes out of middle school. But they make for decent bedtime, fall asleep over a novel, reading. :)
