I didn't enjoy this as much as the previous four books. I found most of it quite dark and depressing, especially Aunt Agatha's scenes. Perhaps because I knew what was coming (I watched the TV series before reading the book) I felt a sense of dread every time it got to the preparations for her party, and I knew how the book ends so that must have slowed down my reading as well as I didn't really want to get to that awful scene.

I am in sooo deep with these books! They are so good! I love the way the characters have developed and the love between Ross and Demelza has developed! 💕 I can't stop! On to the next book! So happy to have found this series. I love the TV series, very well done and follows very well the books! This one bogged down for me in the battle chapters. You can also tell that this book was written in the 70s and not the 40s it is more explicit. Still an appropriate book for adults.
