I shouldn't have finished this book tonight because how am I going to sleep?!? Many emotions are swirling around... but mostly sadness and, the main one, FURY! I had no idea I would end up abhorring three different characters in this one book. George Warleggan, damn you to hell. But not before you get damned, most putrid Whitworth. You are the scummiest scum the pond ever saw. Oh, and Elizabeth. Congrats, lady, you finally made my shit list.

I am in sooo deep with these books! They are so good! I love the way the characters have developed and the love between Ross and Demelza has developed! 💕 I can't stop! On to the next book! So happy to have found this series. I love the TV series, very well done and follows very well the books! I am really enjoying the books however, as Ross is such a brooding male you really learn more about what's going through his mind in these books!

I am re reading this series after many years (about 30). They are immensely readable the second time around. Winston Graham is a fantastic writer and the characters sing on the page. These books are a delightful combination of history, romance and adventure that will appeal to male and female readers alike.

This one bogged down for me in the battle chapters. You can also tell that this book was written in the 70s and not the 40s it is more explicit. Still an appropriate book for adults.
