Beartown is a small town that is slowly disappearing back into the forest. The town has pinned it's hopes on the junior hockey team who has made it to the semifinals. During the day of the semifinal match a horrible event occurs. This book is very different from a Man Called Ove. There is very little in this book that will make a reader happy. Another automatic author for me, I don't ever read the synopsis of Backman's books anymore; regardless of what they're about I know I will love it. I know I can count on characters that are flawed but redeemable, characters that are irredeemable, characters that are comic relief and characters that will break your heart. All of them are in Beartown, as well as a lot of hockey, and a lot of small town smallness, which if you've ever lived in a small town, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
