WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE MY LOVE FOR THIS SERIES/FINAL BOOK!!

Tears were definitely shed....BOTH HAPPY AND SAD!!
Perfect conclusion to a phenomenal and beautiful series.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss these characters. It was a bittersweet moment reading the last couple of pages because I knew it was eventually going to come to an end and I did not want it to be over at all.

So just rip my heart out, why don't you? Because it's over and I don't want it to be. Grrr. A lot of people are saying it ended rather neatly, but there are still definitely parts at the end that strike such a bit of discord in me that I can't say I have the super resolved feeling in my bones like I get with some books. Breaking Dawn, here's looking at you, kid.

Anyway, this definitely was the saddest book of the series and I thought it had a lot more of the weighty questions to be considered. The theme of forgiveness is addressed a lot in this book in terms of the characters and the relationships as seen with Maia and Jordan, Clary and Sebastian, Magnus and Alec. Clare definitely has a way of showing a different perspective on some issues that I appreciate through her world. Forgiveness always seemed kind of a given in my head. Something I get from movie and book cliches, perhaps? But in this book, it's something that is really questioned over and over again and some of the answers made me sad. Especially at the end when the Clave chose to act the way they did in regard to a certain event that happened.

A certain event that will probably pave the way for more heartache and war in the TDA and keep me up at night wondering what the hell is going to happen. A certain event I won't mention but am still freaking out about.

Moving on.

While I was a little frustrated at how much set up was given for the next series, I still found myself caring more about Emma and the rest of the gang more than I anticipated. So Kudos to Clare for breaking past my defenses, because I initially didn't want to read about Emma Carstairs.

Overall, I thought the book was really well done. The pacing had me glued to the book. The emotional intensity of it was far better than a lot of books, though it didn't hit that complete wrecked feeling I had at the end of Mockingjay or Harry Potter #5. And the characters...aw, the characters. Seeing my peeps from the Infernal Devices, watching the little twists that came from something we didn't know about certain characters, watching them grow and change and struggle...all good. The only thing that fell kind of flat to me were the scenes with Clary and Jace. I've been so accustomed to their relationship being one of desperation that watching them reach a more stable place felt like watching a can of pop fizz out. I still liked them, but in a different way than before.

I think this book made me appreciate the real world feel to it. And I'm kind of wondering if Clare will ever have shadowhunters going against the Clave. I know a lot of people were big Malec shippers, but I hope there are even bigger Haline shippers in the upcoming series because some stuff happened at the end that has me pulling out my hair and waiting anxiously for a HEA. Aside from that, I'm still sad that it's over. Now, just got to wait for TDA and TLH.

This book was by far one of the best books I've ever read. One of the best conclusions to a series. I was so drawn into this book. Not as if that's a shocking thing considering this entire series has always had me wrapped around its finger. I would and always will recommend this series/book to everyone.
