Wow... this book was... wow. What else can I say? This book literally took my breath away. The levels of creativity in the woman who penned this masterpiece is astounding.

Why did I adore this book so much? Well, for one thing, the characters . They all were different, all had interesting personalities to read about. None I found boring or pointless, or even too perfect as I have found in other books. I fell in love with every single one of them. Every character had talents, problems, and flaws, Wow... this book was... wow. What else can I say? This book literally took my breath away. Why did I adore this book so much? Well, for one thing, the characters . They all were different, all had interesting personalities to read about. None I found boring or pointless, or even too perfect as I have found in other books. I fell in love with every single one of them. Every character had talents, problems, and flaws, which are important to have in a good character. The names fit the characters as well. A lot goes into naming, and I found every single name here was perfect. This cast of characters left me speechless as their personalites developed throughout the story. I much enjoyed reading about how some relationships the protaginist, Clary Fray, developed were not always positive, and how she dealt with the emotions these other characters caused her. To sum it up, five stars on the character front.

Another absolutely amazing quality of this book was the idea of it all. It's so creative, so original. When I first saw a friend of mine holding it and telling me to, "Read it, Breeze! You won't regret it!" and she explained parts of it to me, I was skeptical. Vampires? Warlocks? Usually not my type of book. Yet as I got into it, I saw how everything in this world that Clare created made sense, and that the whole story was like a puzzle, and everything fit together at the end.

Yes, a puzzle. This epic tale had innumberable plot twists and so many narrowly escaped sticky situations. Details from the beginning resurfaced at the final twist at the end of the book, stuff that made me literally say out loud, "Oh yeah...". It's hard to predict too. I had suspicions as I read through, kind of like a "Wait a minute... nah. No way would that happen," sort of thing. Though in the conclusion crazy things did stuff that made me just about fall out of my reading chair (yes, I am just that nerdy and bookwormy that I have a specific reading chair).

All in all, this book was fantastic. I have never read anything like it. I've already started the second, and I'm already noticing the same good qualities of writing I noticed in the first book. The Mortal Intruments: City of Bones earned five stars for me.

Okay. For starters this is my favorite series of all times. For those of you writing hateful reviews about this, stop being jealous haters and get a life. I'm sure people like you have better things to do than sit around writing hateful, innaproriate, and completely unnecessary reviews. amazingly endearing! i absolutely loved it! stephenie meyer deffinately has some competition now and clare puts out a good argumemt! its ideas are clever and you can tell how much work put into the series!
i met cassandra clare in SF and holly black as well....there were no questions they could not answer! try to stump them! you cant! it is gorgeous and riveting! Deffinately deserves to be on the NYTimes Bestseller list!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"This was the original prologue for City of Bones. I had wanted to tell some of the story from Jace's point of view, but once I got further into the book I realized it would be better if we mainly saw him from Clary's perspective. It made him more mysterious and a mysterious character is always fun."

I totally don't regret reading it.
Jace is really funny but he also cares a lot for Clary.
Simon loves Clary a lot and wants to protect her.
Clary is a smart and strong-willed girl who tries her best to obtain what she wants.
