I've been a fan of Stephen King's word-craft for many years now, but I have to say... this book was close to being a DNF. The story-telling was both monotonous and lurching, and the frame story structures were so erratic that the pieces never quite connected. Names of character's in Roland's past were mentioned often enough that I thought they might be important, but the scraps of story really didn't permit anyone to be fleshed out completely - even Roland, our plodding, semi-sociopathic protago ...more
