What Members Thought
This wasn't a flawless book, but I thought the adaptation was really imaginative, which I think is hard to do when there are already so many retellings of the story out there. Basic elements of the B&B tale were in there - the roses, the curse, the old woman - but lot deviated, it wasn't just carbon-copied. Instead the author actually explored notions of beauty as well as what truly makes someone a beast.

A light read, but never dull! I'm not always a fan of multiple-perspective stories, but it worked well in this case. The elements of the original story were clear, but it wasn't a simple transplant into a new setting. I loved the detail put into the world, and especially the way that our understanding and perception of the story changes along with Isra's knowledge about her past.
