I finished this beautiful novel only moments ago, and in doing so... I kinda lost my shit. My mom made sure I was ok and then said, "When you get back to reality, there's cat puke in the hallway." Cat puke I can deal with. Reality? NOOOOOOO!

Colleen Hoover, you just made me cry tears of intense emotion HOW! I never cry over books, and with a title like "Ugly Love" and a summary depicting a friends-with-ben I finished this beautiful novel only moments ago, and in doing so... I kinda lost my shit. Colleen Hoover, you just made me cry tears of intense emotion HOW! I never cry over books, and with a title like "Ugly Love" and a summary depicting a friends-with-benefits type premise, how are readers supposed know what a beautiful and tragic story this is? Ok, enough people read it to make it awesome enough for a movie adaptation so... yeah.
Ok, the book! It's steamy, hilarious and then makes you cry. Oh but I must say more!
We all know how reading a book goes. You read 40 pages, take a break. Read 30 pages the next day. Take a break. Something cool happens, but then the action and intrigue dies down so we get bored. Then there's the Point of No Return- a moment when things get so deliciously juicy that the book will not leave your hands until you've consumed the remaining pages. In the case of Ugly Love, the point of no return happens around page 5.
Tate temporarily moves in with her brother, Corbin, while she attends college and works as a nurse. The day she arrives to his apartment with her bags, she finds a distraught, drunk dude passed out in front of Corbin's door, blocking her way in. Turns out, Miles is a good friend of Corbin's, and Tate must help get him into the aparment. He also lives right across the hall, and he's kind of gorgeous.
Miles is easy but also so difficult to sum up. He's stoic, rigid, his apartment completely undecorated though he's lived there four years, and he won't let himself open up and love anyone, ever again because of a tragedy that happened six years earlier. (Oh you wish you knew what happened six years ago that changed him so drastically? Good thing the book is written in duel perspective, every other chapter flashing back to six years ago!) Having been instantly attracted to each other and their infatuation building on every page until their first kiss, Miles suggests an alternative relationship with Tate and there are 2 rules: Don't ask about the past. Don't expect a future. Um, do you think that works out? Seriously? Are you kidding? Sex isn't just sex, no matter how much Miles thinks he can convince himself it is.
Me- every time I had a theory, I was wrong. Then I'd make another prediction, uncover more about the story and be wrong again. This is a book of infatuation, desperation, cuteness, confusion, laugher, pain, and everything in between. And I kinda don't want to see the movie, I don't want movie producers to ruin the beauty.
