It is known that I love love love George Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and also the TV Series Games of Thrones. And I'm reading the books non-stop from book 1 up to the latest one A Dance with the Dragons. And I already gave 5 stars for book 1, 2 and 3 and I absolutely love A Storm of Swords...

Lol.

But, why oh why only 3 stars for the fourth book?

So if you happen to notice the fourth book of the series got a lot of negative reviews and a lot of the fans dislike it. And in my perspective you re

Another excellent addition to the series. I was worried initially because this novel doesn't have all of the characters that I've grown to love over the past three volumes, it cuts the character list in half because of the length this novel initially was going to be. But it worked out I think. We focus mainly on Jaime, Cersei, and King's Landing. Also, what is going on with the Greyjoys and the Iron Islands. This is a little slow-paced compared with A Storm of Swords but I still enjoyed it. Martin gave a view of Dorne, Bravoos, the Vale and the Iron Islands--these introductions to new territory and people in the middle part of the series made A Song of Ice and Fire lose slight momentum. However, the readers by this time also probably need some break from the wars; in this book, the wars didn't stop but the fights are not that grand as the focus is on the quest of some characters. The adventure is no ...more

I have attempted to listen to the audio book --- it is awful compared to the other (wonderful) audio books for this series. I can't finish listening, and will have to track down the hard copy book. Disappointing, really.

Giving this another shot in hardcover instead of audiobook.

Attempt #2: In print - It started slow, but by the end of this massive book, I'm already wanting to know what happens next... darn, G.R.R.M. and his twisted plots that even *I* can't guess ahead.

I am terribly upset w/ myself. I had to quit reading this book. I was skipping way too many chapters just trying to finish. I'm really dissapointed, I found it dreadfully boring... I didn't care about any of the characters (except for Jamie, Cersei, Arya and Sansa). I am planning on starting this book over in a few years, once the TV show is caught up. ...more
