This is the third book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire that I lovingly call the Game of Thrones series. That is the name of the first book and it is the primary theme of the book. This was an excellent installment in the Song of Ice and Fire series. The characters are all so interesting. Everything is so well-described that you can just about see it, hear it, taste it. The plot is beautifully complex, unfolding in ways expected and unexpected, but always following its own logic. A Storm of Swords is easily my favorite book in the series so far. While A Game of Thrones did a fantastic job of introducing the characters and setting up the story lines, I thought A Clash of Kings lacked much of the excitement that I felt in the first book. I remember thinking that not much happened when I finished ACoK, and that Martin may have wasted a book in his series. I wasn't let down in the slightest with ASoS.
