What a book!
This has to be one of the best novels that I have read in a long while. It also took me ages to read both because of the length and the depth that it goes into. I will skip a synopsis seeing as this book has been reviewed so many times before, but there are a few things that I should mention that really caught my attention.

The first time I attempted to read Game of Thrones, I stopped midway through the prologue and gave up. It wasn't until I started watching the HBO series that I found a renewed interest in returning to the book. I was amazed by how true to the story the TV show was and how much more detail, information and plot I was able to get from the book. This doorstop of a book was far better than I expected. I started with trepidation know the nature of the television program, but this was far less explicit that what I had seen and much more involving. Even though it is a very long book, it doesn't delve into endless descriptions the way the likes of Tolkien does - something is always happening, a plot is always being hatched. Definitely continuing with the series for now, it ended on a very intriguing note.
