A firm believer that everyone deserves their happily ever after, a lot of my favorite books are second chance love stories. Always You does not disappoint. It's not an easy ride for Samantha, with her past decisions ending in regret. Thankfully, Sam's character is strong and determined. She doesn't give up easily and wants nothing more than to follow her heart.

Every once in a while when I'm done reading a book, I sit back in a thoughtful moment and simply think "damn...I wish I wrote that." That happened earlier today when I finished an ARC of Always You by Stephanie Rose.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC from the author for this debut novel. This story is a mix of sweet and sexy, mild angst and drama with 2 strong main characters. It is partially friends-to-lovers and partially second chance romance. Samantha and Lucas knew each other in college and while Sam always had an unrequited crush on Lucas, she never told him how she felt and Lucas never pursued more. Just like what normally happens, life goes on and they go their separate ways, only to meet up again ab I was fortunate to receive an ARC from the author for this debut novel. Samantha and Lucas knew each other in college and while Sam always had an unrequited crush on Lucas, she never told him how she felt and Lucas never pursued more. Just like what normally happens, life goes on and they go their separate ways, only to meet up again about 10 years later when Lucas returns to town. Sam and Lucas become friends again, but the lines of friendship easily become blurred because he is definitely interested in more, but Sam can't give him that. Not only is Sam not available to pursue, but she has to juggle a lot of responsibilities and cannot only think of herself. I loved this aspect of the story because I think there's many women who can relate to Sam, being caught in a position where she has no one to depend on and choosing to stay in the routine and misery of her present situation or to be proactive and initiate change in a direction where the future isn't guaranteed and the unknown is scary. Sam is not immature or irrational by any stretch, she simply didn't know that there could be an opportunity for better because Lucas hadn't reciprocated her feelings until now and it's like her dream come true at the worst time possible. I really admired Sam for keeping a level head and deciding enough was enough, making her happiness a priority, but also thinking about how her decisions would impact others and what kind of role model example she was setting. Lucas was interesting to me because he wasn't used to pursuing women and for the first time, the one he wants is the one he can't have so he pulls out all the stops to prove himself to be worthy of choosing and to fight for her. My Always You confession - I was a little afraid to read it. Why you ask? I knew that Samantha - our heroine was married when she started her relationship with Lucas, the hero. I was afraid that would make it hard for me to embrace her and after all of the awesome things I have heard about Lucas, I really wanted to be able to like her too.

I am in love with Lucas!

Poor Samantha has been married to a pitiful excuse for a husband. He lies and cheats and is so cruel. When her long-time crush Lucas moves back to town, the old feelings resurface. Immediately, I loved Lucas because he wants to protect Samantha from being hurt anymore.

How do you not love a story that takes place in New York City and features two amazing main characters? There's no way to not love it, is your answer. I completely and totally loved this book.
