Well, what am I supposed to say? I wrote it! I must think it's good, right? :-) Even as I say that, I understand there are some things about this book that will prove difficult for some readers. Can I warn you, gentle reader, that this is only part 1 of Kerris and Walsh's story? May I ask you, even though you have no reason to do so, to trust me? Let me say straight off...I do NOT like love triangles, at all. I will avoid a book if I know there is going to be one. This all stems from the Kathleen Turner series by Tiffany Snow. Inevitably I will fall for the wrong (read BEST) guy and my heart will be broken, crushed, trampled. I did not seek out this book, but I was lucky enough to win a copy from Kennedy Ryan at a takeover she did on FB. Let me say straight off...I do NOT like love triangles, at all. I will avoid a book if I know there is going to be one. This all stems from the Kathleen Turner series by Tiffany Snow. Inevitably I will fall for the wrong (read BEST) guy and my heart will be broken, crushed, trampled. I did not seek out this book, but I was lucky enough to win a copy from Kennedy Ryan at a takeover she did on FB. And yes, I'm saying lucky because even though this book put me through the wringer I loved it.

When You Are Mine is part one of a heartbreaking love story...prepare your heart and mind. I was overwhelmed with the emotions I felt reading this book...frustration, heartache, anxiety, all things I like to avoid in a romance novel. But yet I couldn't put it down.

The writing in this novel is beautiful. The story is told from both Walsh and Kerris' points of view. Walsh, the golden boy of the Bennett family who was born with every privilege imaginable, but who takes nothing for granted. Kerris, the foster child who's fought through her awful childhood and come out a strong, yet vulnerable, determined woman.

I understand the frustration some may have with Kerris, and with Walsh, but I also completely understand why each reacts and does the things they do. My heart ached for both of them. When they are together you can just feel the connection. I couldn't help wanting Kerris to "see the light" and be with Walsh, damn the consequences, but that's just not the kind of person she is.

This book is just not about Walsh and Kerris, and the will they or won't they be together. It's a story of family, of friendships, of loyalty. There are many intersecting stories in this book, to show who these people are and how they came to be. The supporting cast of characters play important roles here, they just aren't there as the sidekick, the best friend, the parent. They help bring to life Walsh and Kerris. Walsh has firmly cemented himself as one of my favorite book boyfriends.

Thank goodness the second part of this book is out, I don't think I could have handled the wait, to see what how this story will be brought to a conclusion. ...more

I’ve been hearing about Kennedy Ryan for a while and have always heard good things about her books. I had them on my “Buy these when they go on sale” list, but that hasn’t happened. When the opportunity to participate in the “Debutversary” for When You Are Mine, the first book in her Bennett series, came up I had to jump at the chance.
In When You Are Mine, we meet Walsh just as he falls into insta-lust with a complete stranger as he watches her help someone out. He discovers later that his myst I’ve been hearing about Kennedy Ryan for a while and have always heard good things about her books. I had them on my “Buy these when they go on sale” list, but that hasn’t happened. When the opportunity to participate in the “Debutversary” for When You Are Mine, the first book in her Bennett series, came up I had to jump at the chance.
In When You Are Mine, we meet Walsh just as he falls into insta-lust with a complete stranger as he watches her help someone out. He discovers later that his mystery girl is actually his best friend’s girlfriend. As the story moves forward, we discover that Kerris is attracted to Walsh as well, but she doesn’t believe they’d work out. She sees a future with, Cam, the best friend. I don’t want to give anything away if you haven’t read the book, but let’s just say that things don’t go as smoothly as anyone would hope.
I am normally not a fan of the love triangle, but the Walsh/Kerris/Cam triangle is more of an unrequited love. Walsh goes out of way to avoid being with Cam and Kerris and she repeatedly confirms her choice. What makes the situation so difficult is that most everyone around them knows the truth. Throughout the book, I respected Walsh. He recognized his feelings, but also realized how they would impact others and tried to avoid them. I found myself frustrated with Kerris. I understood where she was coming from, but I could not relate to the idea of moving forward with a relationship when there is such a big secret at the heart of it. I’m still not sure how I feel about Cam. On one hand, he’s a great guy who deserves to be happy. On the other, part of me can’t help but wonder how much he really loves Kerris and how much of it was having something he knew Walsh wanted.
Now that I have read When You Are Mine, part of me is really glad that I didn’t come across it when it first released. I think if I had, I would have been frustrated by how the book ends, but knowing that there are at least 2 more books gives me hope that there will have a happier resolution.

This book wow'd me for sure. Fell in love with Kerris, Cam and Walsh. I am totally team Walsh at the moment, but am told that could change during this series. Love triangles can be difficult and touchy but this one I have enjoyed because it really could be more than just a triangle. So many subjects are touched in this one book, it will make you laugh, cry and warm your heart. Can't wait to read Loving You Always. ...more
