I enjoyed this book, but it had a lot of loose ends. I don't think the characters were integrated enough.

9/10. This book made me cry. The narrative voices of both Leo and Alma will not be easily forgotten. Their stories were both heart wrenching and life affirming. It doesn't hurt that I generally enjoy narrators that are dusty old men or quirky youngsters and these were both great examples of each. I'm marking this as WWII even though it's not, but it's an important part of Leo's past.
