I started this book last night, setting all expectations aside. And I was indeed transported to an alternate universe. Jean Louise aka Scout, Atticus, and Uncle Jack all have different voices. Harper Lee's voice is different.

This is difficult- I knew it would be. Bless Harper Lee for giving us the gift of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and bless the alleged editor who read this manuscript and saw the talent and new that she had something greater in her to give.

This is not a five star rating in the way that TKAM is five starred. And while it is written by the same author and TKAM was a standard I judged it by this was a very different book. The writing was beautiful and thought provoking and engaging but set at a much diffe

Lots of controversy about this book, but I quite liked it for what it was. Considering it was written many years ago and really wasn't a finished product, I judged it on those merits. Enjoyed spending time with Scout again and loved the flashbacks. ...more

Interesting verbalization of coming-of-age. I can still identify with Scout as I could in TKAM.

This books takes me right back to Maycombe during the segregation crisis.
