Well written, but not really a novel in the traditional sense. The scenario is compelling and the interview style is enjoyable at first, but it creates a lack of cohesion. The story is told in the past tense by survivors, so there's very little tension or drama. The huge number of interviewees also makes it hard to grow attached to anyone. An excellent piece of apocalypse fiction. Though a zombie outbreak is a fictional scenario, it's interesting seeing how many others countries and cultures would respond. Shows or movies about zombies often focus on how people in the United States would respond - few that I've seen account for cultural differences. I know that a fundamental weakness of studies in the field of psychology suffer from being biased to a specific culture.

A stellar and eerie, unconventional story of humanity facing a zombie apocalypse. I would recommend the audiobook read by the author and many celebrities that portray the story/conversations in a way that harken back to old radio teleplay. The audiobook gave me chills and emotional twinges as I listened to the separate first hand tales of a world decimated and regrouping against zombies.
