What Members Thought
This is the first Nick Hornby book I've read. I see something of myself in Rob, though nowhere near as emotionally stunted (or so I'd like to think...). I have a tendency to get on obsessive kicks and am well aware of how annoying it can be, so he's relatable in that way. Having read and loved a couple of Nick Hornby books in the past I was surprised that this was such a struggle for me to get into. The protagonist frustrated me on more than a few occasions and for the majority of the book I found him incredibly unlikeable. Fortunately, it swelled to a great finish, with emotional development and even a happy ending, and I am a definite sucker for both of those things.
