I liked this more than I thought I would. Dystopia is my crack, but action/battle-heavy stuff is kind of snoozy to me so I was worried that a book of endless rumbles would be off-putting. Luckily, the Games are pretty engrossing and I wasn't the least bit bored though the bulk of the story.
I guess it's a mark of good writing that even though I kept thinking, "oh, you poor dumb bastard" for approximately 90% of the book I still felt bad for Peeta at the end. I don't really subscribe to the Katnis ...more

Absolutely loved The Hunger Games! I know it's technically a young adult book but I couldn't help but enjoy it. The story is set in the distant future in which the US has been broken into 12 districts. To discourage rebellion, the Capitol holds an annual competition in which one boy and one girl from each district are required to compete in a fight to the death on live TV. The parallels between the future and today's world are fascinating. The heroine is a great role model for all young girls. C

So glad that I waited until I had the second and third books from the library before I went gang busters on this one. Then I finished it in one night. At this point I feel for Katniss, but Peeta's my favorite. I really hope that they can continue to stick it to the Capitol. On to Catching Fire!

I put off reading this book for quite some time as I wasn't sure it would live up to all the hype. Now I'm sorry I didn't read it sooner and can't wait to get on to the rest of the trilogy. I loved the strength,resourcefulnes and insightfulness of Katniss and rooted for her all the way.
